We are delighted to announce a brand new phase of Millreagh by Dingles incorporating Semi detached family homes. Constructed to a high standard and designed to meet the needs of the modern family and their busy lifestyles. Dundonald lies at the foot of the Craigantlet hills in the suburbs of East Belfast. The town is steeped in history, the name Dundonald is an anglicised version of Dún Dónaill meaning Dónall's fort referring to a 12th century Norman fort, that stood in the centre of the town. The man-made hill that the fort stood on is still in existence and is one of the largest in Ireland. Although the mound is commonly referred to as 'the moat' this is, in fact, a corruption of the word ' motte' and refers to the fact that this defensive structure was built in the style of a motte and bailey. Man has lived in this area for centuries, indeed, the Dingles Millreagh development is situated on the site of a Neolithic settlement (c4000-2000BC), which during the summer of 2006 was thoroughly investigated, studied and recorded by archaeologists before any houses were permitted to be constructed. A 300 year old watermill is located on the Newtownards side of the town. The sandstone building has been extensively restored and includes a 35-foor waterwheel, the largest in Ireland. Millreagh has been developed to maximise the much sought after "feel good factor" associated with modern family living. The homes are generous dwellings, which have been designed and constructed to the highest standard. The specification is very high with a deal of thought given to the requirements of the modern family and their busy lifestyle. The site itself enjoys an elevated view over the town and beyond to the City of Belfast. Dundonald is close to Stormont and there are many Government buildings in the area. Education is well catered for with a large number of primary schools close by as well as Dundonald High School. Other well known schools such as Cabin Hill, Campbell College, Sullivan Upper, Our Lady and St Patrick's College Knock, and Regent House are all within a close radius of the Millreagh site. Dundonald has a large variety of shops, banks and other amenities and is well served by road and public transport. Sport is well catered for with football, rugby, tennis, cricket and hockey clubs all long established in the area. Golf clubs include Knock, Gilnahirk, Shandon Park, Scrabo and Holywood, which are all within a 10-minute journey by car. The David Lloyd Leisure Complex and the Dundonald Ice Bowl complete a spectacular list of sporting facilities. The archaeology at Millreagh uncovered a rath, Early Christian Period 400-11--AD. Another area comprised of disturbed remains, which on the basis of uncovered pottery and structural evidence, has, at this preliminary stage, been assigned a Neolithic date of c400-2000BC.
