Letterbratt Quarry extends to c. 69 acres and has been operational for over 50 years. The main site sits to the west of the Letterbratt Road with a office and weighbridge facility easily accessible. The main processing area is situated beyond and includes a range of crushing and screening plant linked by overhead conveyors. The quarry has not been operational for a number of years and plant and machinery has not been tested.
The main quarry face is adjacent with an access road leading along the perimeter providing access to the lands beyond. To the east of the Letterbratt Road is a former residential dwelling on a generous site with agricultural lands beyond. This could provide an opportunity for a replacement dwelling subject to planning.
We are advised that the site lies within the Dalradian Sequence being sedimentary rocks subject to metamorphism. The extracted stone comprises 3 main rock types: -
Coarse grained metamorphic sandstone (psammite).Metamorphic mudstone (phyllite and pelita).10-20 metres thick porphyistic igneous sill intrusion. The stone quality ranges from high quality roadstone to lower grade fill material. We have been provided with an analysis of the higher quality stone which indicates a PSV of 62.
We do not have any further information on remaining reserves and purchasers should satisfy themselves in relation to the quantity and quality of material on site.
The property was granted planning consent in July 1979 under application no: J/449/78 for “General quarry work with erection of new offices and weighbridge. A copy of the consent is available however purchasers should satisfy themselves in this regard.
A range of crushing and screening equipment remains on site and is included in the sale. This has not been tested and is sold “as seen”. A schedule is available on request.
