Additional Information
This exceptional town villa was one of three built by the Clarks of Upperlands in approximately 1870's and is probably one of Kilrea's most recognisable residences of architectural interest. Known as 'Clougheen' it was used to house Clarks senior management and family until 1987 when the current owners acquired it and have since carried out an extensive yet sympathetic refurbishment to provide high standards of modern amenities whilst retaining all the original features and charm.
Most recently this includes a contemporary third floor roof space conversion designed by the award winning 'McGarry Moon Architects' to take the advantage of the views over the mature gardens and Kilrea lake to the rear. The original coach house with pony and tack room has been rebuilt to provide a garage on one side and workshop with first floor storage on the other.
In all there are 5 bedrooms (master ensuite) and 3 reception rooms plus a large pantry/utility room. Notable original fittings throughout include high level ceilings with contemporary deep covings, original Georgian and complimentary style sash windows, solid internal wooden floors and superb original fireplaces.
As such, Clougheen is truly a unique property in this area whilst enjoying a choice situation and delightful views . It’s also conveniently situated within a short walk to the town centre, local Golf clubs and amenities. Indeed the text can’t really convey how special this property is and we therefore highly recommend viewing to fully appreciate the same. Please note though that viewing is strictly by appointment only.
