‘Bridgeways’ is an outlying farm to the north-east of the principal lands of the Ballyscullion Park Estate with the Spring Well Bridge and the Bishops Canal to the north, hence the name.

‘Bridgeways’ is a farm whose history can be traced back until at least 1862 when it is recorded in Griffith’s Valuation of Ireland as being located in the Barony of Loughinsholin; in the Parish of Ballyscullion. There is little doubt that a farmhouse and outbuildings will have stood at this location for longer than this but Griffith’s Valuation which was executed under the direction of Sir Richard Griffith on a country by country basis across Ireland between 1847 to provide a basis for determining taxes, provides a definitive record.
