The social development minister has this week announced a £3.25m pilot scheme from Co-Ownership Housing to help first time buyers get on the property ladder. Nelson McCausland revealed that the FirstBuyNI pilot scheme is aimed at helping new and return home buyers purchase newly built homes reducing the amount of deposit they need to get on the property ladder.
With the property boom well and truly over, Belfast has seen its fair share of overpriced property. In the city centre in particular, apartments have traditionally been out of reach for all but the most affluent of city slickers. Read the rest of this post »

The charming Georgian village of Moira will be the location of Northern Ireland’s first international Hot Air Balloon Festival from the 27th to the 29th August.
