People moving home hit a record low during recession

In 2008/09, only 9 per cent of all households in the UK (2.0 million) had moved to their current homes within the previous 12 months, the lowest number since records began in 1994/95, according to the latest chapter of Social Trends, published today by ONS.

House Prices in Northern Ireland still falling says RICS

A report published today by the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) shows that expectations of chartered surveyors in Northern Ireland fell markedly last month.

More than 55% of its members stated that  prices fell locally in the past three months, with only 4% saying that prices were rising, with RICS citing both economic confidence, and caution in lending practises as the main factor in buyer enquries continuing to slip.

House prices now less than 10% below their 2007 peak

House prices increased by 0.5% month-on-month in May, according to a report released today by the Nationwide. A shortage of properties on the market continued to push house prices higher during May, figures have shown.

The average cost of a UK home rose by 0.5% during the month to stand at £169,162. The increase, which followed gains of 1.1% and 1% in April and March respectively, came despite activity in the housing market remaining subdued.
